Brainspotting (BSP)
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that identifies and processes sources of emotional and body pain, trauma, dissociation, and other challenging symptoms. It works by identifying eye positions that correlate with the activation of traumatic or emotionally charged issues within the brain.
How Brainspotting Works
Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting is based on the premise that "where you look affects how you feel." By using a pointer to guide your eye position, we can locate "brainspots" — specific eye positions that activate traumatic memories or painful emotions.
Once a brainspot is identified, focused mindfulness is maintained on that point, allowing the brain's natural processing mechanisms to work through the stored trauma. This happens at a neurobiological level, often beyond the reach of conscious thought and traditional talk therapy.
Why Brainspotting?
Eye Position Matters
Brainspotting identifies specific eye positions that correlate with stored trauma in the brain.
Deep Brain Access
BSP accesses the deeper, subcortical parts of the brain where trauma is often stored beyond conscious awareness.
Body-Based Healing
This therapy integrates the mind-body connection, addressing both emotional and physical responses to trauma.
Safe & Effective
BSP works within your window of tolerance, making it a gentle yet powerful approach to deep healing.
